Our Story
Hear from our Founder - the rationale behind Equipped Stewards:
I am Adesola Ademiloye, the founder and Stewardship Coach at Equipped Stewards. I founded Equipped Stewards based on my experience (and the lack of it) in the area of financial stewardship to help Christians avoid and overcome financial stress through education and coaching.
During my initial postdoctoral research engagement in Hong Kong, I encountered the Mandatory Pension Fund (MPF) enrollment process. When prompted by the HR advisor to select an investment strategy for my Mandatory Pension Fund (MPF), I found myself grappling with the complexities of the various investment options outlined in the document. This unfamiliarity extended to the significance of maintaining a balanced asset allocation. Consequently, I resorted to choosing the default option.
Notwithstanding my proficiency and qualifications in the realm of research, I found myself inadequately equipped in matters of personal finance and investment. This deficit propelled me into a journey of acquiring knowledge in personal finance, stewardship, and investment. Subsequently, my endeavour to learn has blossomed into a commitment to share my insights with fellow believers.
Taking inspiration from the Parable of Talents in Matthew 25:14-30, I believe that the three stewards received different proportions because of their capability (present); however, they have the capacity for more (future). Because God hates waste (John 6:12), He will not give an individual anything beyond their capability and capacity. Like the third steward in this parable, many believers are not utilising the resources that God has blessed them with, probably because of fear and/or lack of knowledge.
My primary aim as the founder of Equipped Stewards is to equip Christians with knowledge, tools and resources needed to INCREASE their CAPABILITY AND CAPACITY to become faithful stewards through education and coaching.
More importantly, I believe that faith without works is incomplete. It is through taking intentional action and applying the knowledge we gain that we truly transform our financial lives.
In the year 2023, I launched Equipped Stewards – a purpose-led organisation – to build a community of empowered Christians who aptly manage their treasures, time and talents. At Equipped Stewards, our objective revolves around educating believers about the tenets of Christian stewardship, facilitating practical application of this knowledge, nurturing the growth of faithful stewards, and furnishing a platform for selfless services.
